The Institute is a non-profit organization that addresses the nature of work and family life through finding research-based strategies that foster connections among workplaces, families, and communities. Includes a link to the Institute’s Community Mobilization Forum.

U.S. Small Business Administration

Ford Foundation: Asset Building & Community Development
"Connecting Capital Markets to Poor Communities," a report from the Ford Foundation, summarizes a new approach that enlists the vast resources of private financial institutions (banks, credit unions, loan funds, venture capital funds) to spur community development.

Empowerment Zone/Enterprise Community
A Federal initiative that creates partnerships between Washington and American communities that focuses on bottom-up revitalization of distressed urban and rural areas. The efforts recognize that local residents know best how to solve their neighborhood’s problems.

Newark New Community

The Urban Institute
Web site of this nonpartisan economic and social policy research organization which investigates social and economic problems confronting the nation and looks at efforts to address these problems.
